Philadelphia, PA – (9/8/2010) – Welcoming a new asset to the Chestnut Hill College Athletics Coaching Staff, Director of Athletics and Recreation, Lynn Tubman, commented on the hire of Josef Pohle as the head coach for the golf program, "I'm proud to announce the hiring Josef Pohle as our head golf coach. With his professional golf background and collegiate playing experience, we are confident he will take our program to the next level.”
Pohle acknowledged the announcement, "I am thrilled and very grateful for this opportunity. I can't thank Lynn, Jesse, Sister Carol, Sister Mary, and Chestnut Hill College enough for this great opportunity to coach at the collegiate level."
A member of the Professional Golf Association (PGA), Pohle serves as the course professional at The Philadelphia Cricket Club in Flourtown, Pennsylvania. Since 2007, Pohle has worked as a golf professional in the Philadelphia Area. Pohle first worked as the assistant golf professional at Merion Golf Club before moving on to Chester Valley Golf Club in 2009, and eventually the Philadelphia Cricket Club in 2010. He served similar positions at the Wee Burn Country Club in Darien, Connecticut and the PGA Country Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
Pohle earned a bachelor's degree in business management degree while competing for Skidmore College in Saratoga, New York. He will be inducted into the Skidmore College Athletic Hall of Fame on September 25, 2010. Pohle currently resides in Horsham, Pennsylvania with his wife Colleen.
