Caldwell, NJ – (9/11/2010) – Chestnut Hill College picked up a 1-0 victory over Caldwell College this afternoon, when freshman defender Lauren Nolte (Wilmington, DE) recorded the contest's lone goal at 61:43. She completed a pass from freshman midfielder Steph Litty (Marlton, NJ) at 16 yards out to give the Griffins their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest.
Chestnut Hill College (2-1-1) had the early opportunities, carried the tone of the contest into intermission. Following halftime, the Griffins continued to control play and with four consecutive corner opportunities they finally capitalized when Litty pinpointed Nolte for deciding tally, 1-0. Junior forward Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ) and freshman midfielder Carly DiGiovanni (Seaville, NJ) took three shots apiece atop the Griffin attack, while sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Veazey (Middletown, DE) made three saves to earn her second shutout win (2-1-1) victory of the season.
The women's soccer team heads next to Georgian Court University for a 4:00 p.m. CACC contest on Tuesday, September 14.
