Philadelphia, PA – (9/25/2010) – Junior forward Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ) erupted for three goals and an assist, amusing the home crowd in the opener of the Family Weekend soccer double feature. The Griffins defeated Post University 4-0 to improve their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) record to 5-0.
Riiff to a broke down the left side and scored her first goal at 4:06. In the 21st minute she did the same down the right side of the pitch to give Chestnut Hill College (6-1-1, 5-0) the 2-0 advantage heading into halftime. The Griffins continued to control the contest in the second half as they added to their lead at 63:15, when a long throw-in bounced of the heads of Riiff and senior midfielder Tara Morey (Pittsgrove, NJ) before finding the back of the Post University (0-10, 0-4) goal. Riiff completed her hat-trick at 84:14, blasting the ball to the top right after a run down center.
Three Eagles recorded two shots while senior goalkeeper Elizabeth Johnson (Norwich, CT) made seven saves in the loss (0-10).
Riiff totaled seven shots and freshman midfielder Steph Litty (Marlton, NJ) fired three. In goal, sophomore Jessica Veazey (Middletown, DE) and senior Caitlin Lafferty (Hockessin, DE) combined for four saves with Veazey collecting her fifth shutout of the season (6-1-1).
The women's soccer team resumes their CACC schedule on Tuesday, September 28, with a 4:00 p.m. contest at Holy Family University.
