Box Score Bloomsburg, NJ – (10/11/2011) – Chestnut Hill College squandered a 1-0 halftime advantage to Bloomsburg University this evening, as the Huskies netted two second-half goals en route to a 2-1 win over the men's soccer team. Senior forward
Gavin Reid (Dundee, Scotland) gave the Griffins the first-half advantage, but the Huskies evened the score soon after intermission, before netting the game-winner in the final six minutes.
Just 4:39 passed the start of the second half; Bloomsburg University (4-6-1) knotted the contest at 1-1 on a rebound header from sophomore midfielder Fran Miller (Doylestown, PA). The goal ignited the Husky offense, which outshot the Griffins 12-2 in the closing period and eventually netted the game-winning-goal at 84:16 on a strike to the upper right corner from junior midfielder Alex Ruhfass (Newton, PA), 2-1. Ruhfass took the initial shot that allowed for Miller's goal to collect an assist as well. Sophomore goalkeeper Bernie Roell (Douglassville, PA) made one save in the win.
Reid struck his seventh goal of the season at 32:45 to push Chestnut Hill College (5-7-1) out to the early lead, 1-0. Freshman forward
Pat Steger (La Plata, MD) helped Reid in the Griffins offensive effort with a team-high, four shots. In defeat, junior goalkeeper
Mike Goldstein (Pennsauken, NJ) made three saves (4-4-1).
The men's soccer team resumes their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) with a visit to Concordia College (NY) on Saturday, October 15. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
