Carly DiGiovanni (Seaville, NJ) headed Chestnut Hill College to a 3-2 victory. Senior forward
Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ) located DiGiovanni for the game-winner, after giving the Griffins the initial advantage with two unassisted first-half tallies.
Riiff struck twice in the first half, first at 11:43 and again at 40:29, to give Chestnut Hill College (7-7-0, 5-4-0) a 2-0 halftime lead over Holy Family University (7-7-0, 5-5-0). Unfortunately by the 66
th minute (65:41), the Tigers evened the CACC contest at 2-2. They led the Griffins in shots, 19-13, and corner kicks, 6-2, but it was not enough to account for Riiff, who made it a five-point evening with the assist on DiGiovanni's game-winner. For the Tigers, junior goalkeeper Rachel Dunkle (Blandon, PA) and senior goalkeeper Gina Mansi (Washington Twp., NJ) split halves; Dunkle took the loss while making three saves. Junior goalkeeper
Jessica Veazey (Middletown, DE) made seven saves and earned the win (7-5) for the Griffins.
The women's soccer team continues their CACC schedule with a 3:00 p.m. home contest against Dominican College on Saturday, October 22. As part of Senior Day traditions, the Griffins will recognize Riiff and defender Lauren Brown (Camden, DE) during opening announcements.
