Box Score Lafayette Hill, PA – (10/27/2011) – Battling through the wind, rain, and Bloomsburg University, Chestnut Hill College was on defense for a majority of this evening's season finale. Unfortunately, senior midfielder Katie Walczuk (Long Valley, NJ) gave the Huskies the advantage, and eventual victory, by scoring the contest's lone goal, 1-0, at 18:15. Despite the loss, junior goalkeeper
Jessica Veazey (Middletown, DE) made 11 saves to tie her season-high.
Bloomsburg University (9-7-1) controlled the flow of the affair early in the contest, sending several shots wide or into Veazey's hands. Chestnut Hill College (9-9) was able to keep the Huskies at bay for a little while, but Walczuk followed up a shot by sophomore forward Tara Huber (Orefield, PA) with one of her own to score and separate the Huskies by a narrow 1-0 margin. The Griffins looked to get the ball to senior forward
Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ) in retaliation, but the captain could only rifle three shots through the Husky defense and none found goal. As time wore on the Griffins chances dwindled as the Huskies held the home team to one shot in the closing frame. Senior goalkeeper Frances Nicoletti (Haddonfield, NJ) made only one save in the winning effort for the Huskies, while Veazey took the loss (9-7) for Chestnut Hill College.
The women's soccer team completes their 2011 regular season at 9-9 overall. Currently, they are awaiting seeding for the upcoming Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Tournament, which will start at the homes of the higher seeds on Tuesday, November 1.
