Box Score
Washington, DC – (9/15/2011) – Chestnut Hill College got two second-half goals from senior forward Gavin Reid (Dundee, Scotland) to tie this afternoon's affair with the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) at 2-2. The stalemate would endure through one overtime frame, before the Firebirds freshman defenseman Tom Ryan (Rugby, England) ended the wet and rainy contest, 3-2.

UDC (3-0-1) grabbed the initial advantage with two goals from freshman forward Bruno Borba (Kennesaw, GA). His first tally came off a corner kick restart at 32:15 and he extended the Firebirds lead to 2-0 heading to intermission with his second score at coming at 40:09. Reid brought Chestnut Hill College (2-2-1) back into the picture with his first goal of the season coming off the feed from fellow forward, junior Darryl Richardson Jr. (Washington Township, NJ), at 56:20 in the second half. He added another tally on a penalty kick opportunity just past the 75-minute mark to erase the deficit and force overtime. Unfortunately, with 3:02 remaining in the second overtime Ryan and the Firebirds finally wore down freshman goalkeeper Dave Sullivan (Kutztown, PA) and the Griffin defense, 3-2.

Borba came off the UDC bench to lead the Firebird offense late in the contest. Sophomore goalkeeper Kyle Heatherington (Collingwood, Canada) made three saves to earn the victory.

Accounting for over half of Chestnut Hill College's shots, Reid totaled nine shots to lead the Griffins in the dramatic defeat. Sullivan made seven saves in the loss (0-1).

The men's soccer team returns to campus on Saturday, September 17, to resume their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule with a 6:00 p.m. contest against Bloomfield College.
