Lafayette Hill, PA – (9/17/2011) – After early scores for both sides, Chestnut Hill College pulled away on the feet of senior forward Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ), who scored three times in this afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest with Bloomfield College. Riiff headlined a relentless and more efficient Griffin attack, which decidedly defeated the Deacons despite a close 18-17 shot deficit.

Riiff broke away for her first score, completed a cross on her second, and chipped her third in from 20 yards out to separate Chestnut Hill College (3-3, 1-1) for their first CACC victory of the season. Just 3:28 into the contest, Bloomfield College (1-5, 0-3) nabbed the initial advantage on a free kick opportunity, 1-0, but less than a minute later (4:22) sophomore midfielder Carly DiGiovanni (Seaville, NJ) tied the contest on an unassisted effort, 1-1. The Griffins slowly began to build steam and after a couple of charges on goal, Riiff broke away in the 25th minute (25:42) for a one-on-one opportunity. She beat the Deacon keeper and the Griffins carried the 2-1 lead into halftime. Soon after the break Riiff scored again, this time finishing a cross from sophomore midfielder Steph Litty (Marlton, NJ), 3-1 (53:40). DiGiovanni found sophomore forward Kaelyn Pizarro (Berlin, NJ) a little bit later (59:24) to make it 4-1, before the Deacons could answer on a penalty kick conversion by freshman midfielder Dani Andreas (Jackson, MD), 4-2 (72:18). But by then was too late for the Deacons, as Riiff would add her third score for insurance, 5-2, on a chip shot over the keeper's head from 20 yards out.

Senior forward Christine Rutherford (North Arlington, NJ) was the focus of the Deacon offense with eight shots, but sophomore midfielder Mikie Bradley (Jackson, NJ) recorded their early goal. Freshman goalkeeper Katrina Guevara (North Plainfield, NJ) made four saves in the loss.

The Griffin offense helped junior goalkeeper Jessica Veazey (Middletown, DE) to her third win of the season. She recorded six saves. Riiff led the offense with seven shots, DiGiovanni totaled five shots.

The women's soccer team continues their CACC schedule with a 7:00 p.m. home contest against Georgian Court University on Wednesday, September 21.
