Box Score Lafayette Hill, PA – (9/20/2011) – Three first-half goals gave Wilmington University the edge this afternoon, as the Wildcats defeated Chestnut Hill College by a 3-0 final in today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. The Griffins controlled play early in the second half as they looked to rally, but as time wore on the Wildcats managed to regain the momentum and complete the shutout.
A quick Wilmington University (2-3-2, 2-1) goal at 4:07 set the stage for the affair, as the Wildcats used their advantage to dictate the first half of play. The Wildcats outshot Chestnut Hill College (3-3-1, 2-1) 13-5 in the opening period and with goals at 28:29 and 34:52 they were able to extend their lead to 3-0 by intermission. The Griffins took to the field in the second half determined to change the flow, unfortunately, quality chances were few and far between for the Griffins which allowed the Wildcats to endure the final minutes.
Junior midfielder Ray Kuemmer (Baltimore, MD) helped the Wildcats to their early lead, first serving a pass to a goal-scoring header from junior defenseman Jose Hernandez (Caracas, Venezuela) and then adding an unassisted goal of his own. The third Wildcat score came off the foot of sophomore midfielder Eddie Kowalo (Darby, PA), who rebounded a shot from sophomore defenseman Manny Payton (Easthampton, NJ). Freshman goalkeeper Spyros Stergiotis (Toronto, Canada) made four saves while earning the win.

The men's soccer team continues their CACC schedule with a trip to Post University for a 3:00 p.m. contest on Saturday, September 24.
