Box Score
Lafayette Hill, PA – (9/21/2011) – Chestnut Hill College fought hard this afternoon, but Georgian Court University managed to grab the early advantage, before capturing a 4-2 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory. The Griffins looked to rally with two late goals, but the Lions stayed one step ahead thanks to a direct corner goal from sophomore midfielder Farrell Pomponio (Tuckerton, NJ).

Pomponio got Georgian Court University (2-4, 2-2) started, finding freshman midfielder Amber Schlosser (Colts Neck, NJ) for the opening goal at 9:47. Chestnut Hill College (3-4, 1-2) owned a 8-6 first half shooting advantage, but the Lions held the upper hand in the first half, 2-0. Another Schlosser goal before the 56-minute mark (55:33) made it 3-0 and left the Griffins looking for an answer. At 67:02, sophomore forward Kaelyn Pizarro (Berlin, NJ) scored off a restart tap from sophomore midfielder Steph Litty (Marlton, NJ), 3-1, but five minutes later the Lions answered on Pomponio's corner, 4-1. Senior forward Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ) tried to ignite the spark with a great individual effort at 76:40, 4-2, but it was not to be.

The Griffins held a 15-13 shooting advantage with Riiff leading the way. She led the offense with five shots, Pizarro totaled three. Junior goalkeeper Jessica Veazey (Middletown, DE) made four saves in the loss (3-4), as did Lion senior goalkeeper Shealyn Sullivan (Buffalo, NY).

The women's soccer team visits Post University for their next CACC contest, a 1:00 p.m. kickoff on Saturday, September 24.
