Waterbury, CT – (9/24/2011) – A second-half spark came from sophomore forward Kaelyn Pizarro(Berlin, NJ) , who put Chestnut Hill College on the scoreboard after falling behind 2-0 early in the closing period at Post University. Just past the 82-minute mark (82:06), the Griffins tied the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest, 2-2, off the bending corner kick of sophomore midfielder Steph Litty (Marlton, NJ). With momentum in hand, sophomore midfielder Carly DiGiovanni (Seaville, NJ) would score the game-winner on a penalty kick with just 4:50 remaining in regulation, 3-2.

Post University (1-5, 1-2) got the jump on Chestnut Hill College (4-4, 2-2), with freshman forward Elin Nyman (Sweden) converting a penalty kick opportunity at 37:33. Despite the Griffins leading in first-half shots,  9-7, and corner kicks, 7-1, it was the Eagles who led  1-0 at halftime. They extended the lead to 2-0 just past the 50-minute mark (50:11) when Nyman struck again, this time off the feed of junior forward Sabrina Sinopoli (Watertown, CT). The Griffins finally broke through the Eagle defense at 56:52 when Marykate McShane (Lebanon, PA) found Pizarro for her third goal of the season, 2-1. The Eagles and sophomore goalkeeper Grace McConnell (Leeds, England) hoped to quiet the rally, but the Griffins proved too much, as Litty tied the affair on her tenth corner kick of the game 2-2 (82:06), before DiGiovanni won it three  minutes later (85:10) on a penalty kick, 3-2. It was her second game-winning goal of the season.

The Griffins held a 21-15 shooting edge; McShane, DiGiovanni, and sophomore defender Brittany Boles (Broomall, PA) led with three shots apiece. Junior goalkeeper Jessica Veazey (Middletown, DE) made four saves in the victory (4-4). McConnell made eight saves in the loss.
