Lauren Riiff (Clementon, NJ) and DiGiovanni did the rest in the second half; deflecting in the eventual game-winner and scoring an insurance penalty kick.
Riiff delivered a crucial goal on a run down the right side, 1-0, to give Chestnut Hill College (1-2) early advantage in what was evenly-played contest. Lock Haven University (0-1) held a slight 12-11 shot advantage, but they were unable to keep up with the Griffins pace once they fell behind. The Lady Eagles made one last push and were able to close the gap to 2-1 when freshman defense Danielle Mauro (Toms River, NJ) scored a loose ball at 57:46, but the spark was extinguished less than ten minutes later (67:13) with DiGiovanni beating senior goalkeeper Hayley Zinn (Wyomissing, PA) on a penalty kick opportunity. Jessica Veazey (Middletown, DE) totaled six saves and earned her first win of the season for the Griffins.
