Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. – (10/6/2012) – Late in the opening half an aggressive Chestnut Hill College attack paid off, as scramble in front of the Felician College goal resulted in a successful header from sophomore forward
Channing Couillard (Jacksonville, Fla.), 1-0. The Griffins added a second-half insurance goal on a perfect feed from Couillard to junior midfielder
Mushe Wamulume (Media, Pa) for the 2-0 Central Atlantic Collegiate College (CACC) victory.
Chestnut Hill College (5-6-1, 3-3) kept the pressure on Felician College (4-5-2, 3-4-2) in the first half, outshooting the Golden Falcons 9-3 and holding a 3-0 corner kick edge. With several of their chances going high or wide, Couillard's score was the Griffins first attempt on goal. As time ticked down in the opening period, Stocklin settled the ball off a mix-up at the Golden Falcon goal-mouth before finding Couillard's on-coming head, 1-0 (44:54). The Griffins held that edge through intermission and nearly to the 78
th-minute, before adding an insurance tally. In a more balanced second half, Couillard played a ball into the Golden Falcons zone for Wamulume, who ran it down and beat the goalkeeper for the 2-0 advantage (77:55) and eventual victory.
Junior midfielder Adedine Maazouzi (Brussels, Belgium) led the Golden Falcon attack with three shots. In goal, junior Daniel Wroblewski (Brick, N.J.) totaled two saves in the loss.
Several Griffins got in on the offense, but sophomore forward
Patrick Steger (La Plata, Md.) headlined the effort with three shots. Senior goalkeeper
Michael Goldstein (Pennsauken, N.J.) earned his second consecutive CACC shutout (2-0) by making four saves in the Griffin goal.
The men's soccer team breaks from CACC tomorrow, Sunday, October 7, when they travel to California University (PA) for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
