Bloomsburg University (2-2) carried the momentum from the opening kickoff, outshooting Chestnut Hill College (1-3) 10-2 and registering their initial tally at 26:40. Junior defender Jessy Shober (Marietta, Pa.) netted the goal, launching a strike from 30 yards out that cleared the Griffin goalkeeper, 1-0. Alexandria Allizzo (Laurel Springs, N.J.) and Pizzaro both sailing wide left. Following intermission, the Huskies second-half scores came quickly. Huber scored the first goal off a feed from sophomore midfielder Lauren Stedman (Garnet Valley, Pa.) at 52:42, 2-0, and the second goal came just over a minute later (53:49) with Huber locating freshman midfielder Taylor Gerstenfield (Warminster, Pa.) for her first collegiate score, 3-0. The Griffins best scoring opportunity would come just past the 72-minute mark (72:01), when a Pizarro was denied by sophomore goalkeeper Danielle Fiorelli (Warrington, Pa.). The Huskies defense held the Griffins the rest of the way to seal the victory.
Huber led the Huskies with seven shots; five made their way to senior goalkeeper
Jessica Veazey (Middletown, Del.) who made 12 saves in the loss (1-3) for the Griffins. Fiorelli made one save in the win (2-2).
The women's soccer team continues their non-conference schedule on Wednesday, September 12, with a 4:00 p.m. home contest against Queens College.
