9/12/2012 11:54:00 PM

Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. – (9/8/2012) – Following this evening's soccer contest, the Chestnut Hill College men's soccer team engaged Lock Haven University in a close, physical affair. The opponents remained scoreless through the opening 78:16, when the Eagles broke the stalemate and won the contest, 1-0, on a penalty kick goal from senior defenseman Bobby Moore (Erie, Pa.). Eight different Griffins recorded at least a shot, while sophomore goalkeeper David Sullivan (Kutztown, Pa.) totaled four saves in the loss (0-2).

In a tightly played contest, Chestnut Hill College (1-3-1) and Lock Haven University (2-1-1) traded attacks and blows throughout the competition. The Eagles held a 7-2 first-half shot advantage and a 3-2 corner kick edge, but the Griffins reciprocated with an 8-5 second-half advantage and a 3-0 edge on corner kick opportunities. Unfortunately, Mohr's late run drew a foul and a crucial penalty kick shot on the Griffin goal. He converted, putting the Griffins on their heels and the final outcome in flux. Unfortunately, freshman midfielder Dominic Pernice (Rehoboth Beach, Del.) recorded the Griffins only shot in the final 11:44. It was blocked.

Sophomore goalkeeper Brad Sumski (Harrisburg, Pa.) earned the shutout win (2-1-1) for the Eagles, totaling one save. Freshman midfielder Jacob Oldaker (Elliottsburg, Pa.) and senior midfielder Gregory Bretz (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) each recorded three shots apiece, helping the Eagles to a 12-10 shot advantage. Pernice had the Griffins three best chances, but his second-half strikes went wide, saved, and blocked.

The men's soccer team remains home to resume their Central Atlantic Collegiate College (CACC) schedule on Saturday, September 22, with a 3:00 p.m. contest against Concordia College (NY).
