Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. – (9/25/2012) – A late Bloomsburg University run pushed the Huskies past Chestnut Hill College in this evening's contest. Scoring four times in the final 20 minutes, the Huskies 26-10 shot advantage finally paid off in a 5-1 win over the Griffins. A touch from sophomore forward
Channing Couillard (Jacksonville, Fla.) and a lob from junior forward
Darryl Richardson Jr. (Washington Township, N.J.) resulted in the Griffins only goal, which was struck home by junior midfielder
Hernan Angulo (Lima, Peru).
Bloomsburg University (5-3) took their initial lead at 16:17 when junior midfielder Fran Miller (Doylestown, Pa.) settled the ball off a Chestnut Hill College (3-5-1) defender before striking it to the back of the net, 1-0. The Huskies held the same advantage at halftime, but in the 64
th minute it was erased by the teamwork of Couillard, Richardson, and Angulo. Moving down the left sideline, Couillard touched the ball to Richardson, who chipped the ball into the box for a scoring strike from Angulo, 1-1. Unfortunately, the tie was short-lived as the Huskies quickly responded on a connection between Miller and senior forward Bryce Shaffer (Gettysburg, Pa.) at 69:24, 2-1. Miller then scored another Husky goal off a loose ball at 74:27, 3-1, before extending the Husky lead to 4-1 by serving a ball to freshman midfielder Spencer Conrad (Enola, Pa.) in the 82
nd minute (81:03). Conrad would strike again at 87:41, after forcing the Griffin goalkeeper into a costly turnover.
Shaffer led the Huskies attack with nine shots while junior goalkeeper Ramon Lobo Jr. (Dillsburg, Pa.) made three saves in the win (5-3). For the Griffins, Angulo totaled a team-high three shots. Sophomore goalkeeper
David Sullivan (Kutztown, Pa.) made eight saves in the loss (3-5-1).
The men's soccer team resumes their Central Atlantic Collegiate College (CACC) schedule on Saturday, September 29, with a 3:00 p.m. home contest against Bloomfield College.
