Chestnut Hill College (2-5-1) took the contest's first shot and had a couple early chances, but Dowling College (7-1-1) was able to match the Griffins aggression before stealing the momentum with a goal at 15:36. After a long serve from the left side, Thompson collected the deflection of a Griffin defender and struck it to the bottom left corner of the Griffin goal, 1-0. With the lead in hand the Golden Lions limited the Griffins opportunities to get back into the affair. Keeping the ball in the home end, the Golden Lions carried their lead to halftime only to expand it with a converted corner kick in the 63
rd minute. Senior midfielder Reyhan Taskale (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) served the Golden Lions corner restart across the goal box, to the Thompson's oncoming head for the 2-0 advantage at 62:33. The Griffins appeared to have little left in the tank after the insurance tally as the Golden Lions kept them busy to the final horn with 21 second-half shots.
Thompson took nine shots to score her two goals. Senior defender Erika Krumholz (Central Islip, N.Y.) and freshman forward Kim Spiciarich (Smithtown, N.Y.) each supported her effort with five shots apiece. In goal, sophomore Melissa Guglielmo (West Babylon, N.Y.) made two saves in the win (7-1-1).
