Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. – (9/11/2013) – The Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) season started with high drama for the Chestnut Hill College men's soccer team, who battled Georgian Court University in this afternoon's double-overtime thriller. The Lions were the victors, matching a scoring header from senior forward Robert Stocklin (Mount Laurel, N.J.) in the 32nd with a breakaway goal in the 68th minute and ending the contest at 104:40 on a tremendous individual effort from freshman midfielder Garret McVeigh (Cherry Hill, N.J.), 2-1.

Chestnut Hill College (1-2, 0-1) appeared to have the game in hand with a 1-0 halftime advantage and momentum on their side to start the second frame. The Griffins launched a flurry of shots at the Georgian Court University (3-0, 1-0) goal, but following a home foul the Lions seized their opportunity to tie the affair with freshman forward Ryan Peters (Barnegat, N.J.) finding freshman forward Michael Clarke (Essex, United Kingdom) on a dead sprint toward the Griffin goal. He converted the one-on-one against freshman goalkeeper James Jackson (Sewell, N.J.) and pulled all things even midway through the 68th minute (67:27), 1-1. From there the CACC rivals went tit-for-tat past regulation and an initial overtime period before settling things in a second extra frame. In the end it took an impressive effort from Gostynski, who stripped one Griffin defender of the ball and split two more before depositing the game-winner at 104:40, 2-1.

Clarke led the Lions with four shots while McVeigh score on his only attempt. Three others recorded two shots and junior goalkeeper Rylan Gentil (Poseyville, Ind.) made seven saves in the win (3-0)

Five Griffins totaled three shots, but only Stocklin found the back of the net. His head was perfectly located by senior defenseman Darius Gbunblee (Philadelphia, Pa.), who served the ball from the far right side at 31:47. Jackson made three saves in the loss (1-2).

The men's soccer team continues their CACC schedule on Sunday, September 18 with a 3:00 p.m. contest at Post University.
