9/21/2013 9:25:00 PM

Box Score Rutherford, N.J. – (9/21/2013) – Holding out for a 1-1 double-overtime tie at Felician College, Chestnut Hill College scored the first goal of today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest in the 64th minute before earning a draw despite a 22-6 shot deficit. Unfortunately, the Golden Falcon offense eventually brought all things even, knotting the contest in the 84th minute and going head-to-head with the Griffins defense for the final 26 minutes.

Senior forward Carly DiGiovanni (Seaville, N.J.) made efficient use of her scoring opportunities, depositing an early second-half Chestnut Hill College (1-3-1, 1-0-1) goal on a steal and cross from senior forward Kaelyn Pizarro (Berlin, N.J.) at 63:54, 1-0. The Griffins held that edge until 83:46, when Felician College (1-2-2, 0-2-2) tied the affair on a rebound shot from sophomore midfielder Marissa Nieves (Brick, N.J.), 1-1. The contest remained even from there with junior goalkeeper Samantha Pauls (South Plainfield, N.J.) fending off the Golden Falcons for the remainder of regulation and overtime.

Pauls (1-3-1) totaled ten saves in all while Pizarro, junior forward Kelly McKenna (Dover, Del.), sophomore midfielder Danielle Spinuzza (Williamstown, N.J.), and junior midfielder Victoria Fioretti (Point Pleasant Beach, N.J.) accounted for the Griffins other scoring opportunities. Six first-half corner kicks helped the Griffins generate their early momentum.

Golden Falcon senior midfielder Alysia Arcona (Hackettstown, N.J.) led all participants with seven of the home team's 22 shots. Sophomore goalkeeper Julie Sheridan (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.) made two saves (1-2-2).

The women's soccer team will open a five-game home stand on Wednesday, September 25, when they welcome Georgian Court University for a 7:00 p.m. CACC contest.
