Philadelphia, Pa. - (10/6/2014) – The Chestnut Hill College Department of Athletics is honored to once again recognize some great Griffins from years past. Director of Athletics and Recreation, Lynn Tubman, is pleased to announce the Chestnut Hill College Athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2014; Ruairi Sullivan '00 (Women's Basketball, Softball, 1996-2000), Megan McHugh '03 (Women's Lacrosse, Field Hockey, 1999-2003), Shawn Bolling '07 (Men's Basketball, 2003-2007), Katie Donovan '09 (Women's Lacrosse, 2005-2009), and Jack and Rosemary Murphy Gulati '61 (Benefactor, Lifetime Achievement Award).

Ushering a new generation of Griffins into the Chestnut Hill College Athletics Hall of Fame, the Class of 2014 includes valued members of the College community and quartet of recent graduates who left an indelible mark on their respective programs:

4644Ruairi Sullivan '00 stands as the all-time leading scorer in Chestnut Hill College women's basketball history with 1,277 points. A four-year starter in the Griffin backcourt, Sullivan connected on 460 field goals and 239 three-pointers over the course of her spectacular career, both school records. A two-year captain, Sullivan scored career-high 34 points twice and reached double figures in all 21 games of her senior season (1999-2000) while posting single-season program marks of 21.1 points per game (PPG) and 444 total points.

On January 13, 2000, Sullivan became the first Chestnut Hill College women's basketball player to reach the 1,000-point milestone with a 20-point performance against Albright College. Sullivan was an All-Philadelphia Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (PAIAW) performer in each of her first two seasons, in which she also served as a two-sport student-athlete. As a freshman on the 1997 PAIAW Champion Chestnut Hill College softball team, Sullivan led the Griffins in batting (.375, 6-for-16) while serving as the starting second baseman.

4643Megan McHugh '03 turned in a four-year assault on the regional and national scoreboards during her time with the Chestnut Hill College women's lacrosse program. McHugh never saw a net she couldn't find the back of, finishing her career as the program's all-time scoring leader with 284 goals, currently ranking her 11th in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III history. She was the NCAA scoring champion as both a junior (2002) and senior (2003), averaging 6.19 and 6.17 goals per game, respectively, during those spectacular seasons which still stand as the 10th and 11th highest scoring seasons in NCAA Division III history; as a junior (2002), McHugh notched a single-season school record 99 goals. McHugh was an All-Atlantic Women's Colleges Conference (AWCC) performer all four years and was named the team's Most Valuable Player (MVP) in 2001 and 2003.

McHugh was also a four-year starter on defense for the Griffin field hockey team and a standout in the classroom; a four-year member of the Chestnut Hill College Dean's List and the AWCC's All-Academic Team while also earning a spot on the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse College Association (IWLCA) National Academic Squad in 2002 and 2003. McHugh returned to her alma mater to become the women's lacrosse program's head coach in 2006.

4642Forever linked to his backcourt partner, and Class of 2012 Hall of Fame inductee Isaac Greer '07Shawn Bolling '07 began and finished his collegiate career with the Chestnut Hill College men's basketball program in historical fashion. A member of the inaugural Chestnut Hill College men's basketball team (2003-2004), Bolling spent four tremendous seasons etching his name deeper and deeper into the school's record books. A three-year starter in the Griffin backcourt and a prolific all-around player, Bolling finished as the program's all-time leader in assists (492), assists per game (4.6), and minutes (3,787). He ranks third in field goals made (486) and steals (170), fourth in points (1,309) and steals per game (1.6), and eighth in rebounds (355). Bolling was a two-time All-North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) selection and helped lead the Griffins to the conference finals as a senior (2006-2007).

4645Following in McHugh's footsteps and forging a scoring legacy of her own, Katie Donovan '09 came to Chestnut Hill College just two years after McHugh's swan song. A four-year captain and All-CACC First Teamer (2009), Donovan ranks second all-time in program history for points (310) and goals (275), fourth in assists (35), and sixth in draw controls (78). Her 275 goals place her third all-time in NCAA Division II. Starting her career under McHugh in 2006, Donovan made her mark on the program right away, posting 61 goals as a freshman. She upped that total to 66 as a sophomore in 2007; the program's first year of Division II competition. She offered 60 more goals as a junior (2008) and in her senior season (2009), her only as a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II student-athlete, Donovan tied the NCAA Division II record for goals in a game with 13 tallies against American International College (AIC) on March 12, 2009, and ranked 1st nationally in goals/game (5.18) and 3rd nationally in points/game (5.88) with respective season totals of 88 goals and 100 points. The 88 goals currently stand as the CACC single-season record and are tied for sixth all-time in NCAA Division II history. As the 2009 captain, Donovan was recognized with the team's MVP award and the Chestnut Hill College Athletic Director's Award. She was also the team MVP in her 2006 rookie campaign. A star in the classroom as well as on the field, Donovan was honored with a 2008-2009 Division II Athletics Directors Association (DII ADA) Academic Achievement Award.

4646Jack and Rosemary Gulati '61 are a   testament to the College's commitment to Uncommon Excellence. Jack, a distinguished member of the Board of Directors from 2007-2013, and Rosemary, a valued  alumna, have provided instrumental leadership and significant contributions that have redefined the College for the next   generation of Griffins.

Since elevating to a NCAA Division II institution in 2007, few improvements have impacted athletics at Chestnut Hill College more than the construction of the Jack and Rosemary Murphy  Gulati Complex, which houses the Michael and Margaret Carney McCaffery Lounge and the College's Fitness and Recreation Center. Due to the great generosity of two Chestnut Hill College families, the College was able to transform two large and underutilized spaces into state-of the art facilities that have quickly become two of the most populated destinations on campus.

An ADA-compliant renovation of the old Fournier Gymnasium into a state-of-the-art fitness center, construction of The Jack and Rosemary Murphy Gulati Complex started in December 2010 and features a two-tiered fitness center. This $3 million transformed space includes a 1,500 foot mezzanine level and a cupola-highlighted entrance pavilion to the Fitness Center, which connects to the piazza between the Logue Library and Fontbonne Hall, creating a gathering center where students can congregate.  The piazza serves as a picturesque entranceway to a welcoming lounge and cardio deck which includes a variety of treadmills, with iPod compatibility and touch screens, and a rower with an upper body ergometer and hydro resistance. On the lower level, the exercise space offers Cybex free weights, a cable crossover jungle, and multiple variable resistance machines to provide an excellent source for isolated muscle training and multi-joint exercises. Two power racks with custom logo wooden   platforms, various elliptical machines, arc training equipment,  recumbent and upright bikes, offer the College's students and staff a magnificent platform to pursue athletic success and a healthy lifestyle.

This year's induction ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, December 6. Parties interested in attending the event can contact Associate Director of Athletics, Albert Stroble for more information: stroblea@chc.edu or 215-242-7715.
