Box Score Oakdale, N.Y. – (10/8/2014) – This afternoon's contest was a defensive bout for Chestnut Hill College, who battled Dowling College in a 6-0 defeat. The Golden Lions netted three goals in each half, getting scores from six different players in their best offensive production of the season.
With a three-goal lead in hand, 3-0, the dominos really began to fall in the 76
th minute for Dowling College (8-2-1). At 75:46, senior forward Lindsey Thompson (Centereach, N.Y.) put a long strike over the Chestnut Hill College (1-9) keeper to extend the Golden Lion advantage to 4-0. At 77:13 the deficit grew to 5-0, with freshman midfielder Amber Pindulic (Centereach, N.Y.) completing a feed from senior forward Dayna Galli (Selden, N.Y.), and 6-0 in the waning seconds, when sophomore midfielder Samantha DiClemente (Levittown, N.Y.) scored an unassisted strike from inside the Griffin goal box at 89:27.
The Golden Lions had plenty of scoring opportunities as they outshot the Griffins 28-5 and owned a 6-0 corner-kick edge. Thompson and junior forward Allie Merrill (Levittown, N.Y.) led the effort with five shots apiece. Merrill was one of three Golden Lions to score their tally in the first half as her strike came at 16:25, in between scores from freshman defender Astasia Williams-Bertles (Alloway, N.J.) (13:58) and senior midfielder Christine Verrelle (Abington, Pa.) (38:40). Pindulic finished with a team-high three points, providing an assist on Verrelle's goal before depositing her own in the 78
th minute. Sophomore midfielder Christina Cottone (Levittown, N.Y.) offered assists on Williams-Bertles' and Thompson's tallies. Senior goalkeeper Melissa Guglielmo (West Babylon, N.Y.) totaled one save to collect the win (8-2-1) in the opening 69:42.

The women's soccer team resumes their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) on Saturday, October 11, when they welcome Concordia College (NY) to the Chestnut Hill College Campus Field for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
