Box Score Newark, Del. - (9/24/2014) – Reliving the highs of the 2013 season, the Chestnut Hill College men's soccer team played giant-killer once again with today's 2-1 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) triumph over #23 Wilmington University. Freshman forward Diogo Barboza (Estoril, Portugal) provided the game-winning tally at 86:53, scoring a one-on-one opportunity after a cross from classmate, midfielder Joseph Casaletto (Sewell, N.J.). The Griffins previously defeated CACC rival, #25 Post University by a 3-0 final on Saturday, September 13.
 
Chestnut Hill College (3-3-1, 3-0-1) was first on the scoreboard, taking the upper hand when senior midfielder Nicholas Jaffe (Sao Paulo, Brazil) reversed the field with a cross to the on-coming left foot of senior forward Juan Amaya (Cartagena, Columbia) at 15:53, 1-0. Despite a 12-1 shot deficit, the Griffins held the advantage for nearly 20 minutes as Wilmington University (6-2, 3-1) eventually tied the affair at 34:33 on a connection between junior defenseman Joe Woodley (Gloucestershire, England) and sophomore midfielder Jamie Burridge (Hertfordshire, England), 1-1. The difference maker came in the 87^th minute with Barboza completing Casaletto's pass only a minute after entering the contest (85:52), 2-1.
 
Freshman defenseman Lance Berry (Bear, Del.) led the Wildcats with four shots while three others recorded three shots. Junior goalkeeper Frank Hall (Newark, Del.) recorded two saves in the loss (4-2).
 
Jaffe's two shots topped the Griffins shot totals, but efficiency was key as Amaya and Barboza both scored on their only attempts. Sophomore goalkeeper James Jackson (Sewell, N.J.) earned his third win (3-2-1) in a six-save effort.
 
The men's soccer team remains on the road to play CACC rival, Dominican College in a 2:30 p.m. contest on Sunday, September 28.
