Chestnut Hill College Women’s Soccer Soars Past The Lincoln University, 9-2

Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (10/12/2016) – Chestnut Hill College scored a season-high nine goals from six different players to top The Lincoln University, 9-2, in non-conference women's soccer action played at Victory Field #1 on Wednesday afternoon.
 
Chestnut Hill College (3-8-2) opened a 4-0 advantage in the first 12:20 of the contest, with three different players scoring for the Griffins. Sophomore midfielder Brianna Ferrell (Newtown Square, Pa.) chipped in a pair of unassisted markers during that span, with sophomore midfielder Molly Sullivan (Pasco, Wash.) and junior forward Morgan Ruth (Blackwood, N.J.) also scoring for the Scarlet and Gold.
 
The Lincoln University (1-9) cut into the lead in the 26th minute (25:55) when sophomore Cleo Spear scored a header with an assist going to senior Tamara Greene. The Griffins responded, with Sullivan scoring her second off the night in the 29th minute (28:02) when she scored off a feed from junior midfielder Julianna Casasanto (Philadelphia, Pa.), Casasanto's first collegiate assist. Sullivan then assisted on a goal by junior forward Anna Abbot (Sicklerville, N.J.) in the 37th minute (36:27) to send the game into the break with the hosts up 6-1.
 
The Griffins opened the second half with Abbot scoring her second of the night off a feed from freshman forward Cecilia DuMond (Philadelphia, Pa.) in the 61st minute (60:07). The Lions would score just 15 seconds later when Greene launched a shot from the left side to record her third point of the night (1G-1A). Chestnut Hill College scored two more goals to seal the victory, with freshman midfielder Geena DiRugeris (Woodbury, N.J.) and sophomore midfielder Macailagh Smith (Red Bank, N.J.) each recording their first collegiate goals.
 
Freshman Leah Peshkin (Haddon Heights, N.J) (1-2-1) clinched her first collegiate victory, making 10 saves. Ferrell, Sullivan and Abbot led the Griffins' attack, each scoring a pair of goals in the win.
 
Senior Deborah Roseboro (0-2) made 11 saves in the loss, with Greene (1G-1A) and Spear (1 goal) leading the attack for the Lions. The Griffins held a 31-18 edge in shots, and a 9-4 advantage in corner kicks.
 
The Chestnut Hill College women's soccer team looks to build on their four-game unbeaten streak when they visit CACC foe Nyack College on Saturday, October 15. Kick-off is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
