Felician University Defeats Chestnut Hill College in CACC, Senior Night Feud

10/23/2016 1:16:00 AM

Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. – (10/22/2016) – While wind and rain put a damper on the annual Senior Night ceremony, it did not stop another competitive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) battle at Victory Field #1. Junior goalkeeper Meghan Guagenti (Pennsauken, N.J.) (3-8-1) did all she could to slow the 25-8 Felician University shot advantage, but 11 saves was not enough to deny the Golden Falcons a 2-0 league victory.

The 20 mile-per-hour winds were in the visitors' favor in the first half as the 14-2 Felician University (6-7-2, 4-5-2) shot advantage produced the contest's first goal at 22:36 (1-0). At that time, an attempted Chestnut Hill College (4-10-2, 2-8-1) clear caught in a gust that landed the ball at the feet of sophomore defender Sami Lederle (Brick, N.J.), who struck it for a visiting goal.

Guagenti did her best to hold the Golden Falcons at bay through halftime, but battling the weather and a deficit, Chestnut Hill College could not make up any ground against Felician University in the second half. As a result, Lederle was able to cross the ball to freshman midfielder Jenna Fischetto (Wallington, N.J.) for a successful strike to the bottom left corner at 67:04 (2-0). Unfortunately, the 2-0 Golden Falcon lead lasted for the duration of the game clock, spoiling the Griffins' Senior-Night effort.

Sophomore forward Molly Sullivan (Pasco, Wash.) and junior midfielder Kiersten Cobb-Wilkins (Lowman, N.Y.) each recorded two shots, while four others split the remainder. Prior to the start of the contest, senior defender Annalyse Culp (Clayton, N.J.) was honored by the Chestnut Hill College Athletics Department for her contributions to the women's soccer program.

The Chestnut Hill College women's tennis team concludes their 2016 season on Tuesday, October 23, when they visit Philadelphia University for 12:00 p.m. CACC contest.
