Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (10/4/2016) – Chestnut Hill College used a heroic performance from junior goalkeeper Meghan Guagenti (Pennsauken, N.J.) to earn their first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) victory, topping Holy Family University by a score of 3-0 at Victory Field #1 on Tuesday night.

Holy Family University (6-4-1, 5-1-1 CACC) mounted the pressure early and often in the first half, testing the Chestnut Hill College (2-8, 1-6 CACC) backline with excellent scoring chances. The Tigers nearly scored in the 24th minute (23:11) on a bending shot from junior defender Taylor Adair, but the ball struck the post, keeping the contest scoreless. The visitors continued to apply pressure, forcing the Griffins into a defensive posture, but several fantastic saves by Guagenti and blocked shots by the defense kept the game knotted at 0-0 entering the halftime break.

Holy Family University held a 24-3 edge in shots in the half while also holding the edge in corner kicks, 5-1.

The opening moments of the second half were similar to the first, with the visitors challenging the defensive line early and often. The tides would turn in the 66th minute, (65:30) however, when a foul 35 yards from the box set the Scarlet and Gold up with a free position shot. Junior midfielder Kiersten Cobb-Wilkins (Lowman, N.Y.) stepped up and launched a looping shot that found its way into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.

The goal seemed to wake the offense for the Griffins, with the team scoring a pair of insurance goals in a span of 36 seconds to seal the victory. The first goal again began with a long free kick by Cobb-Wilkins, a fortuitous carom found the ball sitting on the foot of junior forward Kylee Jazikoff (Brick, N.J.) who tapped it home for the 2-0 lead.

The Griffins would put an exclamation point on the night just 36 seconds late (73:48) when freshman midfielder Sabrina Shinkowitz (Stratford, N.J.) found a freshman forward Cecilia DuMond (Philadelphia, Pa.) making an excellent run to the goal. DuMond got the step on the defender, corralled the pass and slipped it past the goalkeeper to give the game its final score.

Guagenti (2-6) stopped a career-best 15 shots in the shutout victory, with Cobb-Wilkins leading the attack with a goal and an assist on the evening.

Holy Family University senior goalkeeper Sienna Smith (5-4-1) (Pottsville, Pa.) turned aside a pair of shots in the loss. The Tigers held a commanding 46-6 edge in shots for the game, with sophomore forward Brianna Rock (Bensalem, Pa.) and junior forward Shannon Metzler (Erial, N.J.) each registering 10 shots.

The Chestnut Hill College women's soccer season continues CACC play when they host Bloomfield College on Saturday October 8, at 1:00 p.m.
