Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (10/5/2016) – Chestnut Hill College used a pair of first half tallies and added an insurance goal late in the contest to top Holy Family University, 3-1, in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play at Victory Field #1 this evening.
Chestnut Hill College (3-8, 2-5 CACC) nearly scored in the opening two minutes (2:03) when junior midfielder
Vini Brito (Sao Paulo, Brazil) snapped a shot on net that was turned away by Holy Family University (1-8-3, 0-4-3 CACC) senior goalkeeper Dylan Rutledge (Philadelphia, Pa.). Brito would continue to pressure the back line of the Tigers until the 14
th minute (13:23) when he corralled a loose ball and ripped a shot into the top right corner of the net for the 1-0 advantage.
The Griffins and Tigers would trade midfield possession in the ensuing minutes, with both teams being called for numerous offside infractions. The Scarlet and Gold would finally connect on one of the long-balls, with junior forward
Zachary Gray (West Sussex, England) sending a ball deep into the box where junior midfielder
Joseph Casaletto (Sewell, N.J.) was waiting. Casaletto snapped off a quick header that was able to beat the goalkeeper for the 2-0 lead.
Following halftime, the Tigers looked to pounce, cutting the deficit down to one just 3:29 into the second half. Senior midfielder Christopher Tracey (Jenkintown, Pa.) was the beneficiary of a Chestnut Hill College turnover on the edge of the 18-yard box, gobbling up the loose ball and beating the goalkeeper in a 1-on-1 battle to make the score 2-1.
The game got noticeably chipper as time wore on, with both sides receiving multiple yellow cards. Playing a man-down for much of the half, the Griffins were able to generate quality offensive chances, finally adding an insurance tally in the 64

Jason Doherty (Letterkenny Donegal, Ireland) one-touched a beautiful pass to Gray who one-timed it home to give the game its 3-1 final.

Rutledge (0-4-3) stopped two shots in the loss with Tracey leading the offence with one goal on the evening.
