CACC Announces Nyack College and USciences as Sportsmanship Award Winners

New Haven, Conn. - (5/24/2016) – Another announcement in a series of postseason recognitions, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Commissioner Dan Mara announced today, Tuesday, May 24, the recipients of the 2015-2016 Sportsmanship Awards. Nyack College garnered the CACC Women's Sportsmanship Award, while the University of the Sciences (USciences) captured the league's Men's Sportsmanship Award. The recipients of the CACC 2015-2015 Sportsmanship Awards were determined by dividing the total number of sportsmanship votes the institution received over the course of the academic year by the total number of sports the institution sponsors.
 
Nyack College captured their 10th straight CACC Women's Sportsmanship Award, dating back to honor's inaugural season of 2006-2007. The Warriors posted a score of 12.00 points, capturing the CACC Team Sportsmanship Award in during the women's volleyball season. Over the course of the year, additional women's CACC Team Sportsmanship Awards were earned by Georgian Court University (basketball), Caldwell University (cross country & tennis), Felician University (lacrosse); Bloomfield College (co-soccer), Concordia College (co-soccer), Goldey-Beacom College (softball), and Chestnut Hill College (track & field).
 
USciences men's sportsmanship award was highlighted by the basketball team's league honor. The Devils did not represent their namesake, posting league-best sportsmanship average score of 17.00. Other men's teams to capture CACC Team Sportsmanship Awards during the past year included Bloomfield College (baseball), Wilmington University (baseball), Caldwell University (cross country), Dominican College (golf), Felician University (soccer), Philadelphia University (tennis), and Nyack College (track & field).
 
Chestnut Hill College placed ninth (9th of 14) in the women's field with an average score or 8.00. Meanwhile, the Griffin men placed fourth (4th of 14) with their average score of 11.57. The head coaches of each conference-sponsored sport vote for the CACC Team Sportsmanship Awards, which are award annually at the conclusion of each championship season. Sportsmanship is a principle value of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II athletics, along with learning, service, resourcefulness, passion and balance.
