Box Score Caldwell, N.J. - (9/17/2016) – It took a little over 106 minutes (106:26) to decide today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Caldwell University, where Chestnut Hill College fell on the wrong side of a 3-2 overtime final. The Cougars ended the game on a goal from sophomore forward Tom Yorston (Northamptonshire, United Kingdom), who negated the first goals of the season for junior defenseman Lindsay Murdoch (Perth Scotland) (37:53) and junior midfielder Vini Brito (Sao Paulo, Brazil) (46:38).

The first-half goals from Murdoch and Brito helped Chestnut Hill College (0-5, 0-3) overcome an early 1-0 Caldwell University (3-2-1, 2-0-1) advantage. The Cougars took the initial lead of the contest with a goal just 54 seconds (0:54) after kickoff (1-0). Murdoch scored a free-kick loose ball at 37:53 to make up for the opening home score and knot the contest at 1-1 heading to intermission.

After halftime, Brito corralled a thrown in deep in the Cougar end and sent it to the left side of the net to put the Griffins ahead 2-1 heading at 46:38. The Scarlet and Gold defense and senior goalkeeper James Jackson (Sewell, N.J.) hoped to preserve the advantage for the first win of the season, but a Cougar rebound strike at 68:52 evened the score at 2-2. Neither side could find the game-winner in regulation nor the first overtime as both sides sent shots high and wide of the target. Yorkston tested Jackson twice early in the second overtime before netting his third shot of the frame at 106:26 (3-2).

Yorston came off the bench to lead the Cougar offense with four shots. Freshman midfielder Luca Caccoittolo (Boonton, N.J.) offered three shots and scored the home team's second goal. Junior goalkeeper Fritz Meister (Flaach, Switzerland) (3-2-1) made three saves.

Freshman forward Zachary Gray (West Sussex. England) helped Murdoch and Brito lead the Griffin offense with a team-high four shots. Jackson (0-5) made five saves.

The Chestnut Hill College men's soccer team breaks from their CACC schedule to visit Queens College for a 4:00 p.m. contest on Wednesday, September 21.
