Box Score Orangeburg, N.Y. - (9/25/2016) – In an a highly competitive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest, the difference came in the opening 20 minutes as a Dominican College goal at 19:23 left Chestnut Hill College defeated by a 1-0 final. Four shots from freshman forward
Cecilia DuMond (Philadelphia, Pa.) headlined the Griffin offense, which outpaced the Lady Chargers in attempts by a narrow 12-11 margin and corners, by an 8-6 upper hand.
DuMond captained the early offensive for Chestnut Hill College (1-6, 0-4) who controlled the initial period until a cross to the head of freshman defender Julianne Ramos (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) found the back of the Griffin goal at 19:23 (1-0). Dominican College (2-5, 2-2) kept the pressure on immediately following the tally, but the Scarlet and Gold defense kept the game within reach, denying a series of shots and corner kicks over the next five minutes.
The contest reached halftime with the Lady Chargers clinging to their one-goal lead. The Griffins offered all they could in effort to tie the affair, but a 7-2 second-half shot advantage was wasted with sophomore goalkeeper Angelica Contreras (Baytown, Texas) making all the necessary stops to preserve the home team's victory.
Contreras (2-5) totaled five saves in the shutout while sophomore forward Taylor Calero (New City, N.J.) served the cross for Ramos' game-winner. Ramos record seven of the Lady Chargers' 11 shots.
Freshman midfielder
Sabrina Shinkowitz (Stratford, N.J.) and sophomore midfielder
Molly Sullivan (Pasco, Wash.) each took a pair of shots while three others record a shot apiece in support of DuMond's team-leading effort. Junior goalkeeper
Meghan Guagenti (Pennsauken, N.J.) (1-5) made all four of the Griffins' stops while sharing the net with freshman goalkeeper
Leah Peshkin (Haddon Heights, N.J.)
