Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (10/10/2017) – The Chestnut Hill College women's soccer team took on Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent, Wilmington University in another competitive match this afternoon. Unfortunately, the Wildcats left the Campus Field victorious, scoring both of the contests' tallies in the first half, 2-0. Sophomore goalkeeper Leah Peshkin (Haddon Heights, N.J.) recorded an impressive, season-high 15 saves, but her efforts were overwhelmed by the Wildcats' 38-8 shot advantage.

Wilmington University (8-5-1, 7-2) took an abundance of their shots early in the first half. At 7:37, one of those shots successfully reached its destination as freshman midfielder Krysta Memis (Lower Gwynedd, Pa) received a serve inside the box for a one-touch tally, 1-0. Chestnut Hill College (2-10, 2-7) created a few opportunities to even the score, one of which was a corner kick that junior midfielder Ariel Magee (North Cape May, N.J.) redirected at Wildcat senior goalkeeper Kierstyn Wlliams (Middletown, Del.). But she made the save and the Wildcats continued to test Griffin defense during the first half. At 41:47 they were successful again as senior midfielder Ashley Cafarella (Parlin, N.J.) completed a serve from sophomore defender Laura van Steveninck (Monnickendam, Netherlands) to give the visitors a 2-0 advantage.

During the second half, Wilmington University continued their shooting spree, but the Wildcats' 16-5 shot advantage was rendered ineffective thanks to Peshkin net play. In effort to rally the Griffins, freshman midfielder Marisa Murphy (Philadelphia, Pa.) made two attempts during the last six minutes of the game (83:24, 87:06), but both of her efforts fell short.

Memis and Cafarella combined for 11 of Wilmington University's shots in the process of scoring their goals. In addition, freshman midfielder Jessica Unsihuay (Newark, Del.) – who assisted on Memis' tally - recorded four shots. Six others recorded at least two attempts. Williams made three saves in the win (6-5-1).

Sophomore defenseman Geena DiRugeris (Woodbury, N.J.) matched Murphy's two shots, while four others took a single fruitless strike. Despite taking the loss (1-5), Peshkin's double-digit save effort was her fifth of the season.

Chestnut Hill College continues their CACC schedule on Saturday, October 14, with a 12:00 p.m. (noon) contest at Concordia College (NY).
