Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - (10/18/2017) – After a scoreless first half, Chestnut Hill College found the magic in the latter frame as goals from sophomore midfielder
Sabrina Shinkowitz (Philadelphia, Pa) and junior midfielder
Marikate O'Toole (Philadelphia, Pa.) propelled the Griffins to a 2-1 triumph over crosstown Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) rival Jefferson University. Despite a 28-8 shot deficit, the Griffins overcame the Lady Rams by making the most of their opportunities; Shinkowitz buried a strong rip to the right corner of the net to tie the contest 1-1 at 71:41 and O'Toole provided the game-winner with 3:27 remaining (86:32) on a perfectly played centering pass from senior forward
Julianna Casasanto (Philadelphia, Pa.).
The first half of competition was controlled by Jefferson University (8-6, 7-3 CACC), who held a 12-0 shot advantage before senior defender
Kylee Jazikoff (Brick, N.J.) fired the last two shots of the frame for Chestnut Hill College (3-11, 3-8 CACC). The Lady Rams was still trying to figure out the Griffin defense in the second half. They broke through just before the 51-minute (50:59) mark, when sophomore forward Dena Noiseux (Merrimack, N.H.) dribbled to the top of the box and beat sophomore goalkeeper
Leah Peshkin (Haddon Heights, N.J.) for the contest's initial tally. But as time wore on, the Scarlet and Gold fire grew and at 71:41, Shinkowitz received a pass from freshman midfielder
Marisa Murphy (Philadelphia, Pa.) and blasted it across the box, to the right side of the Lady Ram goal, 1-1. In crunch time, both teams offered offensive attacks. It took a tenacious play from Casasanto to gain the ground needed for a timely centering pass to O'Toole. Fortunately, she was able to give a controlled strike for the game-winner, 2-1 (86:32).
Noiseux totaled three shots en route to the Lady Rams' lone goal, but, sophomore midfielder Erin Sullivan (Cherry Hill, N.J.) and freshman midfielder Sarah Partrignani (Franklinville, N.J.) headlined the Jefferson University attack with seven shots apiece. Freshman defender Kasey Schlupp (Holland, Pa.) assisted on the Noiseux goal while junior goalkeeper Erin Tinneny (Collegeville, Pa.) recorded two saves in loss (8-6).
Jazikoff took three of the Griffins' eight shots. O'Toole needed two shots to net her first goal of the season, while Shinkowitz, junior midfielder
Brianna Ferrell (Newtown Square, Pa.), and freshman forward
Gabby Fanfarillo (Glassboro, N.J.) each recorded one shot. Peshkin earned the win (2-5) with seven saves.
