Murphy Scores Finisher in Chestnut Hill College’s 3-2 CACC Win at Bloomfield College

Box Score Bloomfield, N.J. - (10/7/2017) – Freshman midfielder Marisa Murphy (Philadelphia, Pa.)   scored Chestnut Hill College their second win of the season with her first collegiate goal as her tally off the feed of senior defender Kylee Jazikoff (Brick, N.J.) in the 68th minute (68:17) stood as the game-winner in a 3-2 triumph at Bloomfield College. Freshman forward Gabby Fanfarillo (Glassboro, N.J.) (1-0 @ 27:54) and sophomore midfielder Geena DiRugeris (Woodbury, N.J.) (2-1 @ 37:44) gave the Griffins a 2-1 halftime advantage, while sophomore goalkeeper Leah Peshkin (Haddon Heights, N.J.) earned her first win (1-4) of the season with a fourth straight double-digit save (11 saves) effort.
 
Fanfarillo's score was the first the affair and the first of her collegiate career as well; the Chestnut Hill College (2-9, 2-6) forward put the ball past the Bloomfield College (4-7, 2-6) keeper's left side give the Griffins a 1-0 advantage at 27:54. But the Scarlet and Gold advantage stood for less than two minutes as senior forward Simone McEnough (Neptune, N.J.) scored the first of two goals at 29:27, 1-1. DiRugeris returned the Griffins to the lead before halftime as the sophomore scored of a free kick for the second time in the last three games at 37:44, 2-1.
 
The Bears tied the contest back up at 2-2 just 45 seconds (45:45) into the second half, but determined to collected their second win, Chestnut Hill College connected later in the frame. Murphy completed the pass from Jazikoff at 68:17, 3-2; it was the last shot of the game for the Griffins, who overcame a 24-10 shot deficit.
 
McEnough recorded five of the Bears 24 shots and both of their goals. Freshman forwards Patricia Persichetty (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Brigid Dwyer (Brick, N.J.) provided assists, while sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Kenny (Staten Island, N.Y.) made four saves in the loss (0-1).
 
Murphy, Fanfarillo, and Jazikoff each recorded three shots; DiRugeris' tally accounted for the remaining Chestnut Hill College attempt.
 
The Chestnut Hill College women's soccer team continues their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) on Tuesday, October 10, when they welcome Wilmington University to the Campus Field for a 3:30 p.m. contest.
