Box Score Wilmington, Del. - (9/13/2017) – An own goal put Chestnut Hill College on the scoreboard first in this evening's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest at Goldey-Beacom College as a corner restart from senior midfielder
Vini Brito (Sao Paulo, Brazil) found the goal after a Lightning player attempted to clear the serve with a header. Unfortunately, the home side regrouped, outshooting the Griffins 14-1 in the first half and carrying a 4-1 edge to intermission. The fifth Lightning goal came in the 59
th minute (59:21), 5-1, and served as enough insurance to endure the Griffins' fleeting attempts to recover.
Chestnut Hill College (2-3, 1-1) improved their play in the second half, keeping the shot margin to 8-6, Goldey-Beacom College (4-1, 2-0). The Griffins controlled the frame early, earning a trio of corner kicks and issuing a Brito shot before the Lightning extended their lead on an individual effort from senior forward Fernando Sanchez (Madrid, Spain), 5-1. Sanchez stole the ball off a Scarlet and Gold defender and scored his second goal of the affair on an empty net.
Sanchez's first goal was the Lightning's fourth of the first half. There, Goldey-Beacom College tied the contest at 1-1 on a long pass from senior defenseman Alvaro Martinez (Zaragoza, Spain) that was struck to goal by junior midfielder Chahin Aghrim (Bonn, Germany) at 11:15. After a 20 minute stalemate (31:46), the Lightning struck again this time on an unassisted effort by sophomore midfielder Levi Maruca (Downingtown, Pa.), 2-1. The next two Goldey-Beacom College tallies were not far behind with Aghrim scoring his second on a header at 34:18 (3-1) and Sanchez converting a rebound off a saved Aghrim shot at 41:28 (4-1).
Aghrim totaled five points (2 goals and 1 assist) and led Goldey-Beacom College with five of their 22 shots. Junior goalkeeper Suhail Bismilla (Johannesburg, South Africa) recorded one save in the win (4-1).

The Chestnut Hill College men's soccer team returns to the Campus Field this Saturday, September 16, to host Dominican College in a 2:00 p.m. CACC contest.
