Box Score Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (9/27/2017) – In a hard-fought Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest, Chestnut Hill College scored first on a slashing header from senior forward Mike Buscemi (Rockville, Md.) (1-0 at 12:26), before falling behind Georgian Court University midway through the second half (2-1 at 65:16). The Lions added an insurance goal just past the 80-minute mark (3-1 at 80:13) that came in handy as senior midfielder Joseph Casaletto (Sewell, N.J.) added to the drama of a 3-2 league final with his third goal of the season.

Buscemi appeared almost out of nowhere to complete a long cross from sophomore midfielder Paris Bruhn (Horst Holstein, Germany) at 12:26, 1-0. That Chestnut Hill College (3-6, 2-3) lead held until 34:14, when sophomore forward Javel Dawkins (Waretown, N.J.) wiggled through the Griffin defense to knot the contest at 1-1.

After halftime the minutes rolled off the clock until a Lion restart just past midfield resulted in a visitor tally on a centering pass from sophomore defenseman Michael Trapp (Toms River, N.J.) to senior midfielder Gustavo Gomez (West Deptford, N.J.) at 65:16, 2-1. Georgian Court University added to their lead nearly 15 minutes later (80:13), when senior midfielder George Kavarakas (Oakhurst, N.J.) put junior midfielder Daniel Vicente (Kearny, N.J.) one-on-one with the keeper, 3-1. Just two minutes later (82:16), amidst a flurry of action, Casaletto scored a Scarlet and Gold tally, 3-2, unfortunately, the goal was not enough overcome the Lions.

Vincente led the Lions with five shots and his game-winning-goal. Georgian Court University led in an 18-15 shot advantage and a 4-0 corner kick edge in the affair. In goal, sophomore Yianni Kavarakas (Oakhurst, N.J.) made three saves in the win (6-2-2).

Casaletto headlined the Chestnut Hill College offense with five shots of his own. Buscemi, senior Zachary Gray (West Sussex, England), and freshman forward Miguel Marra (Ossining, N.Y.) each offered two shots, while several other Griffins offered an attempt in a narrow 18-15 shot deficit. Sophomore goalkeeper Frank Maniscalco (Philadelphia, Pa.) made six saves in the loss (3-5).

The Chestnut Hill College men's soccer team resumes their Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) schedule on Saturday, September 23, when they visit Post University for a 3:00 p.m. affair.
