First Half Penalty Kick Seals Griffins' Fate Against The Warriors

Nyack, N.Y. – (10/13/2018) – Chestnut Hill College outshot Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Nyack College 15-21, but it was a penalty kick in the first half that sealed the Griffins 0-1 fate.  Freshman forward Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.) offered the most scoring opportunities for the Scarlet and Gold with seven shots, while sophomore goalkeeper Paris Banks (Philadelphia, Pa.) gathered 10 saves in the loss.

Chestnut Hill College (2-10-1, 1-8-1) pressured Nyack College (4-7-1, 4-4-1) from the start of the contest, raining five of their 12 (12-9) shots within the first 10 minutes of the first half. Unfortunately, at 34:29 the Griffin's hard work was soiled by a penalty kick, giving the Warriors the 1-0 advantage. Jimenez tried for a last attempt to even the score (40:17), but aimed to high ending the half (1-0). The Griffins kept the same energy challenging the Warriors throughout the second half, letting off nine shots to their six. Despite the advantage, Chestnut Hill College's struggle to connect the dots was their downfall, ending in the 1-0 loss.

Freshman forward Chloe Antalek (Wappingers Falls, N.Y.) recorded Nyack College's lone goal from the first half penalty kick, while recording a total four shots. Sophomore forward Abisag Ramirez (Oceanside, Ca.) logged six shots followed by attempts from three other Warrior's.  Sophomore goalkeeper Nicole Benesch (Waidhofen, Austria) made 12 saves and took the win (3-6).

Jimenez's five shots were accompanied by attempts from sophomore forward Gabby Fanfarillo (Glassboro, N.J.) (2), junior forward Nicole Cahill (Glendora, N.J.) (1), senior midfielder Molly Sullivan (Pasco, Wash.) (1), senior midfielder Marikate O'Toole (Philadelphia, Pa.) (2), freshman midfielder Madison Taylor (Bensalem, Pa.) (1), and junior midfielder Sabrina Shinkowitz (Stratford, N.J.) (2). Despite the 10 saves by Banks, she still took the loss and is now 6-1.
