Waterbury, Conn. - (10/12/2019) – Chestnut Hill College engaged Post University in 110:00 minutes of highly competitive Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) this afternoon as the Griffins and Eagles battled to a 0-0 double-overtime tie. Both sides saw opportunities to put the ball in the net, but neither succeeded; senior goalkeeper
Frank Maniscalco (Philadelphia, Pa.) kept a clean sheet for the Scarlet and Gold with eight saves. On offense, senior midfielder
Pedro Dutra (Passos, Brazil) recorded seven of the Griffins' 15 shots.
Post University (6-1-3, 4-0-2) issued the first shots of the affair in the opening three minutes, but all attempts narrowly missed the mark. Chestnut Hill College (3-5-2, 2-3-1) responded soon after as strikes from Dutra and freshman forward
Luciano Torres (Tucuman, Argentina) respectively hit the cross bar and stopped by sophomore David Mollenthiel (Danbury, Conn.) at 9:28 and 17:20. Play remained back-and-forth through the remainder of regulation with Dutra taking the last go at goal in the final 10 seconds (89:51). As in the first 90:00 (13-12), The Eagles held a marginal 5-3 shot advantage in overtime. But Maniscalco was magnificent in the extra frames, sprawling out for three critical saves in the closing 20:00.
Junior midfielder Sergio Diaz (Madrid, Spain) led Post University with nine shots. Mollenthiel made four saves in his side of the tie (5-1-3).
Torres added a second shot to his afternoon. Sophomore midfielder
Mustaf Nuredini (Norristown, Pa.) match his two-shot total, while freshman midfielder
Diego Cabrera (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) (3 shots) and junior midfielder
Matt Kehr (Exton, Pa.) (1) were responsible for the other four Griffins shots. Maniscalco made eight saves to preserve the tie (3-2-2).
Chestnut Hill College returns to Victory Field #1 on Wednesday, October 12, when they host Georgian Court University in a 7:00 p.m. CACC contest.
