#22 Georgian Court University Take Two Games from Griffins

Philadelphia, Pa. – (4/2/2019) – Chestnut Hill College fell to #25 Georgian Court University in both games in today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) matchup at the campus softball fields.  In game one, the Griffins had a chance to overthrow the Lions, but in the seventh inning the visitor's made their move and ended the match 2-7. In game two, the Scarlet and Gold had a slight edge in the earlier innings but Georgian Court University's fourth inning runs secured the 4-12  final.

Georgian Court University (26-5, 11-1 CACC) had the 1-0 lead in the third inning, but after junior utility player Alessandra Messina (Ambler, Pa.) reached first base on an error,  senior second baseman Alex Sauer (New Milford, N.J.) was able to score and tie the contest 1-1. Chestnut Hill College (7-13, 3-5 CACC) surpassed the Lions in the fifth inning after senior third baseman Lily Winn's (Los Angeles, Calif.) homerun gave them the 2-1 edge.  Their advantage did not last long as a combined six runs in the sixth and seventh inning put the contest out of reach (7-2).

In game two, senior first baseman Kaya Swanek's (Pittston, Pa.) single to center field pushing both Messina and Winn past the home plate gaining the early second inning lead (2-1).  Unfortunately, Georgian Court took off in the fourth inning recording four runs (6-2).  The Griffins were able to log to more runs but the Lions piled on six more runs by the end.

Chestnut Hill College will go on the road to battle it out against Millersville University in a non-conference matchup on Wednesday, April 3 at 3:00 p.m.
