Lafayette Hill, Pa. - (9/21/2019) – Following a somber moment of silence for their recently deceased head coach,
Sandy Dickson, Chestnut Hill College hosted Nyack College in this afternoon's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) contest. After trading goals in the first half, the Warriors used a three-goal second half to defeat the Griffins by a 4-1 measure. The Scarlet and Gold goal came at 38:54 (1-1), when a well-played ball from sophomore forward
Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.) found senior forward
Nicole Cahill (Glendora, N.J.) for a the game-tying goal.
Senior midfielder Camila Parada (Sogamoso, Columbia) controlled play for Nyack College (1-3, 1-0), scoring the Warriors' opening goal of the affair on a give-and-go with senior defender Avery Chance (Millville, N.), 1-0 (36:55). Chestnut Hill College (2-2, 0-1) answered at 38:54, when Jimenez played Cahill down the near sideline. She slipped beyond the Warrior defense and drive the ball into the right side of the goal for her third goal of the season. Unfortunately, Nyack College's 28-9 shot advantage had its effect in the second half as the Warriors separated with goals at 70:26, 74:35, and 80:34; Parada found junior forward Zion Dewerff (Wichita, Kan.) for the first and third, while sophomore forward Shanice Rapp (Untergrombach, Germany) offered an unassisted effort in between.
Dewerff took seven of the Warriors' 28 shots to score her two tallies. Rapp took six shots and Parada another four. Senior goalkeeper Nicole Benesch (Waidhofen, Austria) totaled five saves in the win (1-2).
Jimenez, senior defender
Elizabeth McCormick (Philadelphia, Pa.), and junior midfielder
Marisa Murphy (Philadelphia, Pa.) each recorded multiple shots for Chestnut Hill College. Cahill, junior forward
Gab Fanfarillo (Glassboro, N.J.), and sophomore defender
Alyssa Fournier (Sanford, Fla.) were responsible for the other three. In goal, junior
