Box Score Six different players scored goals as the Chestnut Hill College Women's Soccer team tied a school record for goals scored in a game as the Griffins cruised to a 9-0 win Tuesday night against Lincoln University (Pa.) at Victory Field #1 in Plymouth Meeting, Pennsylvania.
The Griffins improve to 5-4-1 overall while Lincoln falls to 0-9.
The nine goals scored by the Griffins ties the school's single season mark for goals scored first set against Lincoln University back in. Chestnut Hill also tied the school record for most assists in a game with five and set a new record for most in a game with 23
Senior forward
Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.) led the way with three goals, recording her first collegiate hat trick and becoming just the third player in modern program history to score three times in a single game.   Jimenez quickly gave the Griffins an early lead just 2:34 into the game, taking a cross pass from junior
Alexa Murphy (Philadelphia, Pa.) and putting into the net.  She added her second goal in the 12
th minute as
Kayla Dougherty (Williamstown, Pa.) thread a perfect pass to lead Jimenez as she was cutting to the net.  Less than five minutes later Jimenez added an unassisted goal to complete the hat trick and give Chestnut Hill a 4-0 lead.
Jimenez now has a career-high eight goals on the season and leads the Central Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Conference (CACC) in goals scored.
Murphy added two goals to go along with her first half assist. Â Her first goal came in the 14
th minute with an assist from Dougherty, who finished the match with three assists. She added her second goal in the 60
th minute, pushing the Griffins lead to 7-0.
Following the Jimenez hat trick, the Griffins added two more goals before the half ended. Junior
Angel Hines (North Chesterfield, Va.) converted a penalty shot in the 25
th minute for her first goal of the season and
Marcela Banuelos (Allentown, Pa.) also scored her first goal of the season taking a Dougherty cross pass and scoring from the right side, giving Chestnut Hill a 6-0 lead heading into the break.
Chestnut Hill added two more unassisted goals in the second half to round out their scoring.Â
Abigail Galazska (Philadelphia, Pa.) scored in the 66
th minute while
Riley Regan (Philadelphia, Pa.) put one into the net in the 86
th minute to round out the scoring.
Bri Hewlett (North Wales, Pa.) and
Arielle O'Neal (Sicklerville, N.J.) split the goalkeeping duties with Hewlett facing two shots in the first half and O'Neal facing four in the second and recording two saves in her first appearance of the season.
Chestnut Hill College travels to Nyack College as they resume conference play with a match on Saturday, October 16, 2021. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
