Philadelphia, Pa. - (3/27/2021) – A first-inning double from senior centerfielder Devon Horner (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) brought home the only Chestnut Hill College run in game one, and she was the Griffins' only run of game two as she scored on a fourth-inning single from junior third baseman Gabrielle O'Byrne (Moorestown, N.J.). Unfortunately, Concordia College (NY) took both ends of today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader by a 5-1 finals.
In game two, Concordia College (4-0, 4-0) took a 2-0 lead before Chestnut Hill College (0-6, 0-4) was able to get anything going at the plate. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Horner reached on a two-out error at third base before hustling to second base and scoring on O'Byrne's single up the middle, 2-1. The score remained unchanged until the seventh inning, where the Clippers separated from the Scarlet and Gold with three runs on three hits and an error, 5-1.
All of game one's runs came in the first two innings. Unfortunately, Concordia College was the heavy with two tallies in the first frame and three in the second. Chestnut Hill College scored their only run of the affair in their first at-bat, using a one-out single from sophomore left fielder Samantha Toro (Brick, N.J.) and Horner's double to get on the scoreboard. Toro was 3-for-4 with additional singles in the third and fifth innings. Horner (2-for-3) also singles to short in the third inning.
Chestnut Hill College returns to action on Monday, March 29, when they visit Goldey- Beacom College for a 1:30 p.m. CACC doubleheader.
