Jersey City, N.J. - (4/5/2021) – Chestnut Hill College played an inspired contest and outshot #6 Nyack College 9-5 in the second half of today's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Women's Soccer Quarterfinal, but the home side will advance on the strength of their 23rd-minute (22:53) tally. Junior forward Maddie Jimenez (Bensalem, Pa.) took four of her team-high five shots in the second half, while senior goalkeeper Amanda Ianniciello (Milton, Ontario) recorded six saves in the loss (1-7).
Freshman defender Caitlin Geiger (Philadelphia, Pa.) issued the contest's first shot, sending one wide left of the Nyack College (4-2-1, 3-2-1) goal. Unfortunately, the Warriors responded with offensive strikes around the five-minute and 17-minute marks before finding the back of the net on a 23rd-minute connection between junior forward Shanice Rapp (Untergrombach, Germany) and senior forward Zion Dewerff (Wichita, Kan.), 1-0 (22:53). Afterwards, Chestnut Hill College (1-7, 1-6) was only offer a pair of late first-half shots from Jimenez (42:55) and junior midfielder Madison Taylor (Bensalem, Pa.) (44:40).
In the second half, the Scarlet and Gold shots came late as a pair of 74th-minute corner kicks eventually let to a series Chestnut Hill College strikes. Jimenez and Geiger each put a couple on goal, but graduate goalkeeper Michelle Baum (Kassel, Germany) made all the saves she needed to in the 1-0 final.
Freshman defender Maren Wolf (Karben, Germany) and junior defender Skylar Morales (San Bernardino, Calif.) led Nyack College with three shots apiece as Dewerff scored on her only shot. Baum made four saves in the win (4-0).
