The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team's season came to an end on Monday as the Griffins dropped their first round NCAA East Regional match to Queens College 4-0 at the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen Stadium Tennis Courts in Hooksett, New Hampshire.
The Griffins (#6 seed) finish their season with an 11-6 record. Queens (#3 seed) improves to 17-8.
Chestnut Hill started the match down one player due to COVID related issues which gave Queens an immediate 1-0 lead with a point for a #6 singles forfeit and the advantage of only having to win one of the two contested doubles matches.
Noah Cutting (Bury St. Edmonds, England) and
Mark Gladkyy (Vineland, N.J.) dropped their #2 doubles match to Kareem Rashad and Lucas Demuth 6-3 to give the Knights the doubles point and a 2-0 lead.
In singles, Gladkyy dropped a 6-2, 6-3 match at #5 singles while
Tom Pitchley (London, England) lost at #1 singles to Rashad, 6-2, 6-4 to give Queens the remaining two points to clinch the win, 4-0.
Queens will move on and face #2 seed and host Southern New Hampshire University on Tuesday.
