Griffins Fall in First Round of NCAA East Regionals

The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team's season came to an end on Monday as the Griffins dropped their first round NCAA East Regional match to Queens College 4-0  at the Southern New Hampshire University Penmen Stadium Tennis Courts in Hooksett, New Hampshire.

The Griffins (#6 seed) finish their season with an 11-6 record.  Queens (#3 seed) improves to 17-8.

Chestnut Hill  started the match down one player due to COVID related issues which gave Queens an immediate 1-0 lead with a point for a #6 singles forfeit and the advantage of only having to win one of the two contested doubles matches.

Noah Cutting (Bury St. Edmonds, England) and Mark Gladkyy (Vineland, N.J.) dropped their #2 doubles match to Kareem Rashad and Lucas Demuth 6-3 to give the Knights the doubles point and a 2-0 lead.
In singles, Gladkyy dropped a 6-2, 6-3 match at #5 singles  while Tom Pitchley  (London, England) lost at #1 singles to Rashad, 6-2, 6-4  to give Queens the remaining two points to clinch the win, 4-0.

Queens will move on and face #2 seed and host Southern New Hampshire University on Tuesday.
