Huskies Down Griffins in Men's Tennis Action
The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team dropped a hard-fought contest, 4-3, against host Bloomsburg University at the Burt Reese tennis Center in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania on Friday.
The Griffins fall to 2-2 with the loss. Bloomsburg is now 1-0 with the win.
Chestnut Hill grabbed the early lead by capturing the doubles-point, winning two of the three contests.  BU captured the #3 doubles match before the Griffins swept the next two. Menno Raeymaekers and Filippo Relecom scored a 6-4 win over Vishesh Patel and Sergio Dilan at #1 doubles and Ewan Brown and Alessio Lefebvre followed with a 6-4 win at #2 doubles over Jaime Soria and Fernando Barros.
Arnaud Vangenechten gave the Griffins a 2-0 lead with a 6-3, 6-4 win at #6 singles before the Huskies won at #1 and #3 singles to tie the match at 2-2.
Enzo Puppi put the Griffins back ahead, 3-2 with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 win over Alejandro Higuera at #4 singles. Before Patel beat Brown at #2 singles and Soria beat Lefebvre at #5 singles to clinch the match for the Huskies. Brown's and Lefebvre's matches both went three full sets.
The men's tennis team returns to action on Sunday, October 13, 2024, when they host Kutztown University. First serve is set for 12:00 p.m.
