Griffins Close Out Season with Loss to Lions

The Chestnut Hill College Men's Soccer team closed out their season Thursday night with a 2-1 loss to Georgian Court University at Victory Field in Lafayette Hill, Pennsylvania.

The Griffins finished the season with a 3-10-5 overall record and a 1-8-2 mark in Central Atlantic collegiate conference games.

Prior to the game the athletics department and the men's soccer program recognized six senior players who were playing in their final game in a Griffins uniform.  Goalkeeper Connor McGrogan, defender/midfielder Jaime Arrola, forward Santi Linares, midfielder Gabriel Matute and defenders Riccardo Italiano and Oliver Karlin have all been a part of the Griffins program for two seasons with Arrola now completing his third.  All six have made solid contributions to the program of the course of their careers.

Back to game action, Jimmy Paz scored the Griffins lone goal of the game, putting a shot past GCU goalkeeper Ayendi Batista at the 39:53 mark to even the scoring at the time at 1-1.

The score remained 1-1 until the lions scored the eventual game winner in the 77th minute.

McGrogan had a career-high nine saves in goal for the Griffins.  Linares led the team with four total shots (one on goal) with Paz added three and Dane Bodziak two.  GCU outshot the Griffins 20-11 for the game.

The match concludes the 2024 season for the men's soccer team.
