Game Recap: Softball |

Season Concludes with Doubleheader Loss to Jefferson

Camille Dunham had four hits in Wednesday's women's softball doubleheader against Jefferson University but the Griffins lost both ends of the twinbill, dropping game 1, 12-1 before falling in game two 10-3.

Dunham had a pair of doubles in the opener and drove in the Griffins only run.  She added two singles in game two along with a walk.

Jenn Pokropinski and Jazmine Ramirez had an RBI apiece in game two.

The Rams scored nine times in the first three innings to take a 9-0 lead and added three more in the fifth.    Chestnut Hill scored their lone run in their final at-bat in the fifth as Amaris Guzman led off with a single to right center field and later scored on Dunham's one out double to left center field.   A Pokropinski single moved Dunham to third before the next two Griffins flied out to end the game.

Gabriella Quinones pitched the final three innings, allowing six earned runs while striking out three to take the loss.

Game two was a scoreless affair until two outs in the top of the sixth inning when an infield error by the Griffins opened the floodgates and led to seven unearned runs for the Rams and a 7-0 lead.  Dunham led of the bottom half of the inning with a single and came around to score on Ramirez's infield groundout, cutting the lead to 7-1.

Jefferson scored three more runs in the seventh, also with the aid of a two-out error, to take a 10-1 lead.

In the Griffins' final at-bat  Ashley Soto recorded a one-out hit  but was later erased on the basepaths.  Anastasia Watson and Erika Kwasek delivered back-to back bloop singles and  Dunham walked to load the bases.  A wild pitch brought Watson home and Pokropinksi  had an infield single to score Kwasek for the final Griffins run in the 10-3 loss.

Michelle Baker took the loss, pitching a complete game and allowing all ten runs, with only one of them earned.

The Chestnut Hill softball season concludes with the doubleheader with the Griffins finishing the year with a 3-29 overall record and a 2-20 record in CACC games.
