Philadelphia, Pa. – (1/25/2025) – On Saturday, following the conclusion of the Griffins' women's basketball game against Caldwell University, Chestnut Hill College Director of Athletics and Recreation Jesse Balcer announced Chestnut Hill's  Athletics Hall of Fame, Class of 2025. This year's class includes four of the most outstanding and accomplished athletes that have ever competed for the Scarlet and Gold as well as a legacy team that left its mark as the first of their sport to win a championship.

The 1979 Women's Volleyball Team made history when they became the first volleyball team in their short history to win a championship, capturing the PAIAW district IV Championship that season.  Fifteen young ladies made up the 1979 squad. Coach Lorraine Busch guided the team to seven wins during the year and was a perfect 3-0 in district play, defeating Our Lady of Angels (now Neumann University; Academy of New Church (now Bryn Athyn College) and finally Harcum College to capture the title.  On October 8, 1979 the women's volleyball team played against Harcum College for the Division Championship.
