Griffins Fall to Cougars in CACC Semi-Finals

The Chestnut Hill College Women's Soccer team saw their 2025 season come to an end Tuesday afternoon as the #2 seed Caldwell University defeated the third-seeded Griffins in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Semi-Finals, 3-0 at the Caldwell Athletic Field in Caldwell, New Jersey,

The Griffins conclude their season with a 9-8-1 record.

The game was the Griffins third trip to the CACC semi-finals in program history and their first since the 2022 season when Chestnut Hill advanced to the championship game via penalty kicks.  The Griffins had lost last year's quarterfinal match to the Cougars via penalty kicks.

Chestnut Hill recorded just one shot on goal in the opening half, a scoring attempt from Hayden Johnston just 10:25 into the game.  Caldwell later took a 1-0 lead in 17th minute.

The Cougars added two more goals in the second half to round out the scoring.  Haley Esposito made six saves in net for Chestnut Hill in the losing effort.

For the game, the Griffins finished with 12 shots (six on net) while Caldwell had 17 (nine on net).   Johnston had two of the Griffins six shots on goal with Lauren Sullivan, Alyssa DeGeorge, Virginia Perry and Abby Collins recording the remaining four.

The Griffins also finished the game with one more corner kick than the Cougars (3-2).

The women's soccer team's nine wins this season equals their highest total since the 2022 season and also ties for third highest win total in the program's Division II era.
