Izabella Rodriguez hit two triples, becoming the first player in history of the Chestnut Hill college women's softball program to hit two triples in a single game as the Griffins defeated Rosemont College 9-1 in the team's second game of the day at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic.
Chestnut Hill lost their first game of the day 7-3 to Grove City College. The    Griffins improve to 3-5 with the split.
Gabriella Quinones pitched a complete game striking out six in her five innings of work to earn the win. Rodriguez also added a single to go along with her two triples and drove in four runs.  Kayla Rolon had a triple  and a single and drove in two runs.
Rodriguez recorded her first triple in the opening inning on a hard ground ball through the left side and added her second three-bagger in the next inning as the Griffins scored seven runs.
Skyler Cunningham and Devin Warner singled to start the inning, and an infield error loaded the bases for Rolon who singled to center field to score Cunningham with the first run. A second Ravens error plated another run before Rodriguez lined a triple to left to clear the bases to increase Chestnut Hill's lead to 5-0. She later scored on a wild pitch.  Anastasia Watson then doubled to score Alauna Kelley with a double and a 7-0 lead.
Rosemont scored their lone run in the third inning  and the Griffins added their final two runs in the top half of the fifth inning. Rolon tripled with one out to score Erika Kwasek and later scored on Rodriguez's single to round out the scoring.
Quinones struck out to batters in the final inning after putting the first two runners on to finish the complete game win.
In CHC's opening game, Grove City scored four runs in the first two innings and made it stand for a 7-3 win.
Watson had three hits ( two doubles)while Kelley and Camille Dunham had two hits apiece. Michelle Baker took the loss, allowing seven runs (three earned) on nine hits.
Trailing 4-0 heading into the third inning, Christina Contreras led off with a triple and scored on Rodriguez's infield ground out. To cut GCC's lead to 4-1. Â Â
Grove City scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth to lead 6-1. Watson's double to score Mikayla Yuricheck in the top of the sixth to make the score 6-2.
The Wolverines added one more run in the seventh and Kelley drove home Rodriguez with the final CHC run.
The women's softball team returns to action with games against the University of Valley forge and Albion College at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
