Griffins Defeat Golden Rams in First PSAC Conference Match

The Chestnut Hill College Men's Tennis team opened conference play Tuesday afternoon, playing their first match in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference since becoming an associate member for men's tennis for this season. 

The Griffins hosted west Chester University at the CHC Tennis Courts and came away with a win, defeating the Golden Rams 5-2.   The Griffins improve to 2-6 overall and 1-0 in league play.  West Chester falls to 3-6 overall and 1-2 in PSAC games.

The Griffins battled to get the advantage at the onset, winning two of three doubles matches to secure the doubles point and a 1-0 lead in the match.  Noah Cutting and Alessio Lefevre  started things off with a 6-1 win over Alessandro Melotti and Georgije Jovicic at #1 doubles.  After dropping the #2 doubles match, the Griffins came back to capture the #3 doubles contest as Augustin Daubannay and Ewan Brown earned a 6-4 win over Zach Bull and Ashton Bunch.

Cutting gave the Griffins a 2-0 lead with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Bunch at #1 singles and Siddharth Malik scored a 6-1, 6-1 win over Anthony Abbott to make the score 3-0.  Enzo Puppi clinched the match win for the Griffins, defeating Nick Styliades 6-2, 6-2 at #2 singles.

The Golden Rams pulled out wins at #3 and #5 singles to account for their two points.  Daubannay scored the final Chestnut Hill point with a 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (11-9) win at #4 singles over JP Beirana Guzman.

The men's tennis team returns to action with a Friday morning match against Davis and Elkins College at the CHC Tennis Courts.  First serve is set for 11:00 a.m.
