Biography
FRESHMAN (2013) – Barton was the Griffins second finisher at each of the first five meets before leading the pack at the season-ending National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) East Regional, where he placed 106th overall (35:35.7). Barton’s season-best eight-kilomet (8K) time (27:56) came at the College Track Conference Championship on October 19. He was named the team’s Coach’s Award winner at the annual Athletics Awards Reception.
SOPHOMORE (2014) – Barton earned the Chestnut Hill College Men’s Cross Country Coach’s Award and earned recognition on the Chestnut Hill College Fall 2014 Athletics Academic Honor Roll while participating in all six meets. His best time came with a 55th (27:43) place finish at the Paul Short Invitational on October 4. He also finished 6th (28:41.7) at the Queensborough Community College Invitational on September 14, 10th (30:30) at the Philadelphia Metro Meet on September 27, 69th (27:51.8) at the Gettysburg College Invitational on October 18, 16th (29:07) at the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship Meet on November 2, and a team-best 83rd (34:24.8) at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II East Regional on November 22.
JUNIOR (2015) – Barton highlighted a strong junior season with an All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference finish at the league’s championship meet; he placed 9th with a time of 28:37.50. Barton was the Griffins’ top finisher (19th) at Rowan University’s Bill Fritz/Charlie Way Invitational on September 19 with an eight-kilometer (8K) time of 28:27.19 also earning him a mention on the CACC Weekly Honor Roll. He participated in all six events; additionally running 17th (30:18.0) at the Philadelphia Metro Meet (9/12, 8K), 2nd (27:49.4) at the Bryn Athyn Invitational (10/3, 8K), 6th (17:26.10) at the Cougar Chase Invitational (10/17, 5K), and 85th (34:53.20) at the NCAA East Regionals (11/8, 10K).
SENIOR (2016) – Barton started off his senior year breaking a school’s 5K record at Philadelphia Metro Meet (9/10), finishing fifth with a time of 17:55.7. The effort earned him the first of back-to-back mentions (9/12, 9/20) on the CACC Men’s Cross Country Weekly Honor Roll. He was the Griffins’ top finisher in three other meets, placing third (29:14.9, 8K) at the Queensborough Community College Invitational (9/18), 51st (27:37.0) at the Paul Short Invitational (10/1), and 70th (34:17.1) at the NCAA DII East Regional Championship (11/5). Two weeks prior (10/23), he earned his second straight All-CACC honor with a 13th place (28:43.6) finish at the CACC Championship Meet (8K). For his outstanding efforts Barton was recognized as the team’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the annual Chestnut Hill College Annual Awards Reception.
